Sugar Valley Bakery is a small business located in Potsdam, NY. They specialize in custom cookie designs for themed gifts and events. I was approached by the owner and asked to clean up a logo they’d created in-house. We had a few meetings and discussed their brand and growth strategy, and it sparked a few more ideas.

My favorite comp from this project is this simple mark, inspired by a mountain and valley, and a partially-eaten cookie.
Ultimately they went in another direction and this concept was shelved, but the project taught me a lot about the client-designer relationship. It’s a two-way street – especially the process of selling your ideas and working to distill a client’s ideas down to the essentials to get to the heart of the brand. Even though this logo wasn’t used, the ideation process was productive and positive.
